About Us
Hi there. My name’s Christian Tessmer (see bizarre photo at right). I'm the architect/owner of this company. Instead of some lofty mission statement, I’ll try to answer your questions straight away:
Why do you do it?
I designed, toiled, and generally sweat over this site so that you can connect to an awesome medical device job. Connecting sharp people to stellar jobs changes lives. I dig that. It also funds my turkey sandwich addiction. I dig that too.
Who’s behind the company?
So far I’ve managed to create/run this company by myself. I’m kind of a stickler for automation. That means you can change everything and anything by yourself. I’ve even tried to anticipate your questions. Of course, if you need that personal touch, I'm only an email away.
What’s your story?
I was born in Michigan… whoa… don’t fall asleep. Let’s fast forward a bit. I graduated from Arizona State University with an aeronautical engineering degree. Believe it or not, I landed a job that actually utilized my education. Hold the applause please.
But I never would have imagined working on autopilots could be so boring. Boredom is a good motivator for a new career.
A web design spark landed in my eye. I downed a couple classes and books. More books. More knowledge. As I connected the technical/creative/personal dots of design, the spark transformed into a bit of a fire. I pumped out my first website for Honeywell… then I left.
A medical device recruiter hired me to turn his struggling site around. I rewrote his job board from scratch. I became a partner. I wore flip flops. The 2005 rewrite proved to be a success. However it wasn’t without issues. People just like you told me what could be better. I took notes.
Two years passed. I had quite a long list of needed improvements. The list didn’t exactly excite my partner. He wanted me to sell. I wanted to code. We parted ways.
Starting from virtual scratch, and flying solo, I hit the drawing board. Peanut butter and jelly fueled many sleepless nights. I fulfilled your requests one item at a time. My own improvements were mixed in for good measure… and not just techy things… things that actually matter to you.
This site, medicaldevicestar.com, ended up right were I wanted: clean, powerful, and specific to the medical device industry. The bonus? Something that’s actually fun to use.
